Seven Is One Bigger Than Six

Nothing on John's Wi-Fi 6 network has ever given him a reason to complain, which is a problem when Wi-Fi 7 exists.

Podcast: Accidental Tech Podcast
Episode: 672: Wi Hyphen Fi

I was reflecting on my Wi-Fi 7 situation, which is I ain’t got it. ([laughs]) I mean, I have Wi-Fi 7, like I think, I think my iPhone 16 Pro has it. I have a– I have– My wife has an iPhone 17 Pro that I believe has it. Uh, as I’ve complained about on past episodes, all– I think Apple’s Macs still do not support Wi-Fi 7, which is crappy.

John
But the bottom line is in my house, my Wi-Fi setup was purchased before Wi-Fi 7 existed, so it’s Wi-Fi 6. I forget which variant of Wi-Fi 6, but it doesn’t… It’s not Wi-Fi 7 at all. And I’ve been thinking about like, well, you know, every- ([chuckles]) Kieran Healy just posted about this on Mastodon. Like everything in my house networking wise works fine. No one complains that they’re not getting enough bandwidth. No one complains they’re not getting enough signal. Everything I do on my network works. Video never stutters. My downloads go fast. Like I don’t have any complaints.

John
And yet the number seven is in fact one bigger than the number six
