Kids raised on Retina screens have never seen a pixel, and no, John does not feel better about it.

Kids with photos, man. Like, I guess it’s just, I don’t know, there’s, uh, I think Retina has done this. Like, I think people our age are so… I mean, it’s empathy for the machine. We’re so in tune for the idea that there is a pixel grid, and there are pixels, and there’s such a thing as native res and not native res, ’cause that really was a fun, that was so important and visible back when pixels were the size of boulders, right?Casey

Now, pixels are essentially invisible to kids and have been their whole lives, so they don’t think in that terms. But we can look at a screen and then go, “Uh, that’s not native res.” Like, we can, you can see it, just a little bit of the blur, a little bit of the fringing. You can see it, and it’s invisible to them because pixels have never been part of their lives. But pixels are definitely a part of my life, and it is very upsetting to me how children deal with them.Casey
